Raid Rules
Raiding Members of Survivors may actively participate in organized, official raids at the discretion of the Raid Leader (RL). To be included in this you must have a
maximum level character of a class that is approved by the RL. This character will be considered your "Raid Main". You must also have a high speed
connection and appropriate PC to play EQ2 efficiently, the ability to hear and speak in voice chat (Ventrilo), and the ability to enter all game zones in which the guild raids. Furthermore, you must meet the requirements of our Raid Enforcement Officer, or be making strides to meet his requirements to his satisfaction. Finally, you must read and familiarize yourself with these rules and with our published DKP Rules. Read them both before your first raid. These conditions apply to new members, returning members, and members who have not raided previously.
GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS
We expect to beat all instanced raid content EQ2 has to offer in a timely manner. We do this through commitment and professionalism. The better you are at attending raids and playing well, the easier this is for the whole of us to accomplish. You are expected to earn your place among us. This means taking your gear, level, AA, and playing seriously. You must be in good standing with the Raid Rules and Performance Enforcement to continue participating in raids.
It is expected that you will put your raiding main before any alternate character, so take your gear seriously. It is required that your main meet AA/level requirements to be eligible for raiding. It is also required that ALL of your primary raiding gear is adorned within a timely manner (the only exception are multi-slot items). The guild pays for adornments for any equipment purchased using DKP. All other equipment must be adorned out of pocket. Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in docked DKP and being cut from the raid.
We expect you to be at the Strategist, specced appropriately, geared and mended, and on Ventrilo in advance of the start time for every raid. Lateness is unacceptable. Our Raid Leader's word is law for raid procedure and policy, strats, planning, and cuts. Our first target at raid start will usually be listed on the MOTD. We encourage input when we're figuring out a new mob. Otherwise, listen, obey, and perform. You must have Ventrilo installed and functional to raid, and you must have the capability to both speak and listen. Our Vent is R rated at best, and you should have a headset if you do not wish to have R rated language and humor broadcast in your home. We tolerate much teasing, cussing and verbal shenanigans, but never hate speech. If you are unable to make a raid, we expect the courtesy of a post on the Raid Absences thread of our SWiki. There is a 15 DKP penalty for failure to inform us of your absence. Repeated lateness or failure to post an absence will result in the loss of your raiding privileges. If your raid performance is sub par, expect that our Raid Rules and Performance Enforcement officer will be talking to you. If you have questions, or need help improving, he is happy to assist. Our AA and Gear Specs officer is available to lend advice on character achievement and gear spec choices. We expect each of our raiders to perform at their optimal level, and we're happy to help you get there.
RAID SCHEDULE
Our current raiding schedule is (EST):
Tuesday 8:30 - 12
Wednesday 8:30 - 12 (flex raid)
Thursday 8:30 - 12
Sunday 7 - 12
The Wednesday night raid is typically a formal guild-only NBG pick-up raid. Attendance is not required though it is highly encouraged. Occasionally, to support appropriate mob progression, the Wednesday night raid may be changed to a required DKP raid with little notice. These DKP raids will count towards attendance. Our expectation is that your availability on Wednesday nights will remain flexible.
ATTENDANCE AND HIATUS
It is expected and acceptable that you may not make every raid. However, consistently poor attendance or long breaks from the game necessitate that we find someone to take your place. We expect that all Raiding Members will maintain an 85+% raid attendance at all times. Only unique situations discussed with the Officers will be exempted from this requirement. If you anticipate being absent on any given raid night you must post in advance on the Raid Absences SWiki page. If you will be missing several consecutive raids or taking a long hiatus, you must inform an officer of your situation. Anyone missing more than 5 consecutive raids will be considered to have abandoned the game and may be placed into hiatus status. We will try to accommodate returning players, but will not jeopardize the success of our raiding for unreliable people.
If you are consistently arriving late or leaving early you may be placed into hiatus status and not allowed to raid or obtain loot. You will remain in hiatus status until such time as you are able to demonstrate that you can be on time and stay until the end of raids again. It may become necessary to replace you in the interest of the continued success of the guild. These situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Officers.
SWITCHING RAID MAIN CHARACTERS
It may become beneficial to the raid force at some point for you to change your raid character to a new class. Doing so transfers all DKP and loot earning to your new character. You may do this only with the approval of the RL.
RAIDING ALTERNATES
Raiding Alternates will serve as backup raiders and be drawn from select alts. The goal is to have available a few moderately geared alts to fill in key classes to mitigate absences, vacation, and special case mobs. We may only need them once per week or less, so this is a way to have backups without drastically increasing raider recruitment and raider cuts. Those alts selected that meet these minimum requirements will be expected to gear, AA, adorn, and Master out much like any main except the guild does not pay for their adorns and the masters are not free. However, any loot that does not receive a DKP bid will be open to them first for plat bidding.
- Every raider with an 85% or higher 90-day attendance can, if interested, apply to have a single toon tagged as a Raiding Alternate. This toon must be at least 90/217, have all spells at Adept III, and have legendary or better gear at a minimum. You are encouraged to apply if interested but only classes that are needed for backup slots will be selected.
- Approved Raiding Alts can bid on and purchase alt loot in the same way that it is done now. Rot loot from all raiding zones will be made available to Raiding Alts at all times.
- Those with Raiding Alts cannot purchase alt loot for Non-Raiding Alts.
- Raiding Alts will be factored into epic quest line updates (in a timely manner). No other alts will.
- Rot masters will be sold to Raiding Alts for 50pp each (like classes are expected to collude).
- Raiding Alts are expected to be appropriately prepared to attend a raid on any given night, if requested.
- Your Raiding Main should always come first. However, by selecting a Raiding Alt you are committing to secondarily leveling them, mastering them, gearing them, and keeping them appropriately adorned at all times. We acknowledge that this is an added financial burden, and consider it to be a trade-off.
NON-RAIDING ALTERNATES
Non-Raiding Alternates are our casual alts and not factored into our raiding plans. Each Raiding Member in good standing may select one Non-Raiding Alternate to be eligible for Alt loot. (Note: If you have a Raiding Alt, you cannot pick a Non-Raiding Alt for looting.) During the alt bidding, Non-Raiding Alts may bid if no Raiding Alts are bidding.
- Raiding Members must be in good standing (i.e., not Recruit, Inactive).
- Raiding Members may select one level 90 alt as their Non-Raiding Alt with looting rights. You cannot change this choice without the approval of the Officers.
- Non-Raiding Alts bid for alt loot after Raiding Alts, with the usual 50p min bid on easy-mode loot and 100p min bid on hard-mode loot, increasing in 5p increments.
GENERAL ALTERNATES
General Alternates are our secondary casual alts and not factored into our raiding plans. There is no limit to the number of General Alternates that a Raiding Member may have. During the alt bidding, General Alts may bid if no Non-Raiding Alts are bidding.
- Raiding Members must be in good standing (i.e., not Recruit, Inactive).
- General Alts must be level 90.
- General Alts bid for alt loot after Non-Raiding Alts. The minimum bid is 50p, increasing in 5p increments.
LOOT AND PAYOUTS
We have a healthy loot sharing tradition. While it's not a rule that you have to give any masters, gear, or drops that you loot to the people who may need them, if you don't it will be noticed unfavorably. On raids, the coin goes to the Guild Bank, where it is used to pay for our socialist lifestyle: mending, pots, adorns, crafting for the guild, our snazzy house, and related expenses. When we have a significant surplus, cash payouts are made to Raiding Members based on Last 30 Days attendance:
90% - 100% = full payout
80% - 89% = 3/4 payout
70% - 79% = 1/2 payout
60% - 69% = 1/4 payout
Under 60% = no payout
"OFFICIAL" PUG RAID LOOT, i.e., Wednesday night non-DKP raids
Mains (including non-raiders) get first dibs. The first item is free. Every subsequent item has a starting auction price of 50p. You are not limited in the number of items you can buy. If no mains are interested, it goes to primary loot alts with a starting auction price of 50p. If no one is interested it then goes to general alts with a starting auction price of 100p. Again, no limit to the number of items you can buy. If no one at all is interested it goes to public sale. All earned plat is split amongst all attendees at the end of the night.
ADORNMENTS
The guild pays to adorn anything you purchase for your main using DKP. Check the Adornments forum for the procedure, or ask our Quartermaster Needs officer. All gear, including your non-raid earned gear, must be adorned in a timely fashion unless you obtain a special exception for a particular item (dual slot items are a standard exception).
RAID PROCEDURE
FORMING RAIDS
Raid start times and locations will be posted on the guild MOTD. You must
enable this feature of your game chat or review it on your guild screen. You
must be online at the proper location and logged into Ventrilo in advance of the designated
start time. You must also be responsive to chat and voice chat at this time, have all
gear required, and be fully mended. When groups are
made, you must accept invitations in a timely fashion. The intention is to form up
and zone in at start time. Lateness will not be tolerated.
When raids are formed and we have more than 24 people, some players will have
to sit out or be "cut" from the raid. The RL will ask for volunteers,
and will also review the recent 90 day attendance of players present. Cuts will
be made at the RL's discretion, and will be based on volunteers, attendance, gear, AA,
and necessity of class. Players with under 50% raid attendance, because they
are new to the guild or have taken a hiatus, will be among the first asked to sit
out. Players in this situation are encouraged to improve their raid attendance
so they may participate more and be active in helping the guild to progress. If
more cuts are necessary, the RL will ask people from the lower tiers of 90 day
attendance to sit out before those with superior attendance. Above all, the
raid must be successful, so the necessary inclusion of key classes may take
precedent over all else. Players with lower attendance will be asked to cut
before players with a higher attendance where applicable. Players asked to sit
out still earn DKP and are eligible for loot as long as they adhere to the
guidelines of our DKP Rules.
Once the raid is formed, it will enter the instance at the RL's discretion.
Never click a zone door unless specifically instructed to do so by the RL.
COMMUNICATION
You must be diligent about replying in Ventrilo or text chat. You must remain at
keyboard and attentive as much as possible. It is not expected that you
contribute to strategy or planning, but input is welcome. Keep all input
regarding raid planning and strategy to voice chat, raid chat, or group chat if
it is a group matter. Avoid sending tells to the RL during a raid. It
costs too much time for him to be replying to individual tells when he needs
to be running the raid.
The best time to talk in depth about strategy, planning, group make-up, and
procedure is after the raid, where it is encouraged that you send tells to the
RL or others, or post on our forums.
Above all, you must listen and not be disruptive. You must understand what it
is we are doing. If the RL asks for questions, and you have any, please bring
them up. Likewise, do not interrupt the RL or the MT's "pull" without
good reason.
Many abilities used on raids are best accompanied by macros that inform your
group, your target, or the raid what your buff or ability is doing and
notifying others when you use it. This is highly encouraged. The RL may
instruct you to use macros for certain skills. Please do so.
GENERAL PROCEDURE
Upon entering a zone, do not move your character until instructed. Never
interact with any mob or object unless instructed to do so. Always maintain a
tight formation, and never separate from the main camp unless it is
specifically called for. The Main Tank (MT) or puller may separate from the
camp to initiate mobs, otherwise we stay tight as one entity. When moving
through a zone we maintain this integrity and travel behind the MT at a rough
distance of 10 meters.
In most encounters when we engage a mob, melee characters must move to the mob
but must stay close to one another. Characters operating from range must stay
with the original camp and not overly separate. Certain encounters will require
more diverse or specific positioning and this will be thoroughly explained by
the RL.
TARGETING
Characters dealing damage must target according to the RL's instructions. Our
default method of targeting is to directly target our Main Assist (MA) so that
the mob being damaged is your implied target. At times you may directly target
a mob at the RL's instruction when dealing damage. You are also expected to be
able to quickly make and employ /target macros to assist Off Tanks (OTs) when
needed.
Characters healing may target freely. On single mobs it is acceptable and
encouraged to heal through the mob. All healers are encouraged to use macros
for targeting, useabilityon, previous target, etc. so that they are fluid and
flexible in keeping players alive.
Characters tanking or off tanking are free and encouraged to target mobs
directly, and are responsible for controlling the aggro of mobs in an
encounter.
Characters applying debuffs or status effects such as stifles and dazes are free
to target mobs on the pull, but should adhere to using the MA for dealing
steady damage.
If you are not directly targeting the MA, and you disturb aggro for no good
reason, or pull an add encounter, you are at fault. Target carefully. There is
no excuse for DPSing on the wrong mob or adding an encounter.
ENGAGING
Never use an ability on a mob until the MT or puller has engaged the
encounter. Some debuffs or effects may be used on the pull, but never deal
damage to a mob until the MA gives you a target or you hear an audible sign to
engage from the MT. Buffs and pre-heals on the puller or MT are acceptable as
long as you use discretion, or do so at the RL's direction.
LOOTING
Loot will be auctioned via our DKP Rules and in a timely manner. You are
responsible for paying attention at this time. If you are sitting out of a
raid and eligible for loot, you must be at keyboard if you expect to bid. Loot
will be conducted in Guild Chat. The RL or Officer assigning loot will list the item and starting bid.
Bidding will proceed as per the DKP Rules. When the RL types "anyone
else" or "last call", this means that the item will be awarded
momentarily unless bidding continues. When the RL congratulates the high
bidder, the process is considered over and loot is assigned. Retracting bids is
not allowed, so take care when bidding on loot. Only with rare exception and
good reason will a bid ever be allowed to be taken back.
If you win any equipment through a DKP purchase after the raid, visit the Adornment Requests thread and request an adornment for the new item (multi-slot items can remained unadorned).
ENDING RAIDS
Raids will generally have a predetermined finish time. We may stop early or run
late based on progress. If there is cause to run significantly late, or if
there is more progress to be made after the stop time, the RL will ask anyone
who cannot stay to immediately disband from their group. This must be done
quickly to assess the viability of continuing the raid. DKP awards for extra
time spent raiding late are at the discretion of the DKP administrators and subject to
our DKP Rules.
